Coto de Caza

Oh, Coto! What's not to love about this "unincorporated" town tucked into a long valley, cut off from the rest of the Orange Planet?

Coto de Caza is a bucolic place with wide, tree-lined streets... the streetlights are few, letting the starlight at night do the rest... The oaks are massive, the shady sycamores gigantic... the breezy winds that blow through make the peppers dance and the pines sing. If you live in or have at least driven through Coto de Caza, you know what I'm talking about; if you haven't and have only heard, you won't know until you've been here.

Guard-gated on two of the entries into the neighborhood, and with an additional private, residents-only gated entry at a 3rd location, Coto is one of, if not the, biggest gated communities in the county. Homes range from to uber-deluxe equestrian properties that sprawl over multiple acres to the eclectic homes in the Coto Village to the handsome townhomes near the Club. There are over 60 (!) different tracts & custom home neighborhoods in Coto – a large range of housing opportunities.

Coto offers two clubs – the “old” Coto Valley Country Club, which was built as a hunting & tennis destination in the 1970’s and the “new” Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club. The Coto Valley Country Club offers members a pool, gym, tennis facilities, a grill and is a regular destination for weddings. That said, when people talk about “the Coto Club”, they are generally referring to the Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club and it’s myriad offerings – two 18-hole golf courses, tennis, a massive gym complex, pool & spa, restaurant & golf pro shop. Both clubs offer tiered memberships and Coto residents usually belong to one or the other.
