Mesa Verde, Mesa del Mar and the Halecrest areas are largely populated by single-family homes on 5-7K sqft lots that were built in the late 50’s through the early 70’s; interest in the neighborhoods has been increasing steadily over the decades as those lot sizes become harder to find.
The South Coast Metro area is on the north end of town and is named after the revered titan that occupies most of that area – the legendary shopping center, South Coast Plaza. The South Coast Metro area is characterized by a mix of townhomes, single-family homes, great shopping (both South Coast Plaza and the genre-defining “anti-mall” shopping collections, the Lab and the Camp), eclectic dining and the heart of OC’s performing arts centers – the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Not that everyone in Orange County can’t come to (and do) visit, but folks who live here get to call these places and spaces “neighbors”. Not bad for a former blue-collar and farming community (heck – that’s most of Orange County, I guess).
For most of Costa Mesa, it is an easy bike ride to Newport Beach down Newport Boulevard or the Banning Channel bike trail. Eastside has the advantage of being right next to Newport Bay and the great trail system that surrounds it – perfect for an easy stroll or, for the more adventurous, hitting the extended “Mountains to the Sea Trailway” system that stretches for miles.
For those that are fortunate enough to own investment real estate, and are interested in multifamily real estate, Costa Mesa has an excellent range of multifamily properties ranging from duplexes up to 80+ unit apartment complexes.
