Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Silvia Tseng had always dreamed of coming to the United States to study and maybe one day to live. At age 20, Silvia was accepted as a transfer student by the University of Southern California and she managed to convince her parents to let her travel and study abroad. As entrepreneurs themselves, her parents understood her desire to find her own way and they gave her their blessing to leave home.
To Silvia's credit, at that moment in her life, while she spoke English, she had never been to the US, never sat in an English-only classroom and had never been abroad by herself. She jumped right into her studies at USC and graduated four years later with a degree in Business Administration. After graduating from USC, Silvia went to work for Bank of America as a Financial Service Representative and was tasked with assisting Mandarin Chinese-speaking VIP clientele. While the work was rewarding and she had since advanced into managing loans for the branch, Silvia quickly outgrew her position and decided to return to USC for an MBA with a vertical focus on Decision Systems in IT. Once again, Silvia graduated from USC, this time with her MBA and she returned to the workforce, joining again another bank - Coast Federal Bank - but this time tasked with assisting the Director of Asset Management with the disposition of Real Estate Owned (REO) aka "Bank Owned" properties. It was her work with Coast Federal that sparked her interest in residential real estate sales and acquisitions; after several years with Coast Federal, Silvia decided to once again remake herself and her career and quickly earned her California real estate license and joined Surterre Properties.
Jesse Brossa says, "Chris Moore called me and said 'You've got to meet this agent in our office - she's really dynamic and I think she would be a great addition to our team.' I trust Chris' instincts so a couple of days later, Chris and I met with Silvia and I was hooked - she's witty, she's got a solid background in residential real estate, she is connected - the list goes on, but bottom line is, Silvia is a very personable and passionate about the business and that's something you can't teach... Frankly, I'm overjoyed to have her working with us."
Silvia speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese & Taiwanese and is a regular volunteer at her children's school; on Chinese New Year, you can find her with delicious regional Chinese dishes at hand, telling stories to the students, and demonstrating Chinese calligraphy. She is a member of the California Association of Realtors, the Orange County Association of Realtors and a Bronze Lifetime Member of the CHP 11-99 FoundationCHP 11-99 Foundation.
Silvia is happily married to Kenny Wu, a Chinese American who immigrated with his parents to Hawaii at age 7. Kenny was once a director of marketing for Canon USA software division and now owns Liberty Bell Components Inc., a major distributor of electronic components. Silvia and Kenny have 3 children and live in Irvine, California.
